HEY THERE!
WHO IS VRO?
Nice to see you! I am Dipl.-Ing. Isa Veronika Lientschnigg a.k.a. VRO and this is my studio, my creative space.
MINDSET
PERSONAL APPROACH
Studying architecture, one of the most extensive fields of study, while simultaneously working in the dance and choreographic industry, has shaped me as an artist. Both disciplines have taught me various aspects of design and creative processes, which are now evident in my work.
I believe that understanding how design and creative processes function as a whole is crucial. This multidisciplinary approach contributes to a unique visual language that enhances the quality of my creations and makes them stand out!
BACKSTORY
VRO SINCE 1998 ...
Born in 1998, raised in Carinthia, Austria, I have always been the “creative child”. From a young age, I would draw stunning pictures, create little handicrafts, and work on little photography projects or other creative ideas. My connection to music has also been strong from early on. Exploring different musical artists, singing, and playing instruments for years developed my deep connection to this art form. Starting to dance in my teenage years, I would choreograph and create for championships soon. Turning 18, I started studying architecture in Graz, which opened my horizon up to another incredible art form to explore. I learned various techniques and foundational knowledge that allowed me to professionalize my other creative crafts even more. Simultaneously, educating myself as a professional dancer and choreographer, and tapping into theatre and film production through dance, added even more expertise to my artistry. Each experience influences the other. Architectural knowledge influences a theatre production, dance & choreographic knowledge shows in a little graphic, musical knowledge supports a film production or comes through in a design. Now looking back at what I’ve been doing my whole life, it's a significant realization of how I have been developing my craft as a creative since forever. Additionally, getting in contact and working together with many inspiring people from the creative scene -like photographers, sound designers, musicians, videographers, dancers, directors, choreographers, and more- has and always will deepen my experience and understanding of creative work. It is incredible how all the disciplines can go together and complement each other.
ANEKTODE
I REMEMBER ...
When I was 8 years old in primary school, I received new shoes from the Easter Bunny: yellow Converse with black shoelaces! They were stunning! But not quite rounded yet...
I took out the black laces and replaced them with purple ones instead. Not knowing about complementary colors at the time, I just had a feeling that this color combination was perfect!
OPEN MIND BUILDS CREATIVITY
INSPIRATION
I am a keen observer! My inspiration clearly comes from keeping my eyes and mind open. What do I see, hear, smell, taste, and feel? It's a lot about listening to myself as well as analyzing my surroundings: people, nature, architecture, and all kinds of arts. Understanding the relationship between different arts and design fields, what they have in common, and what you can bring from one field to another to make it stronger has had a big influence on my inspirational tools. To make my standpoint clear, inspiration is not about taste; it’s about interest, curiosity, and maybe even confusion or surprise. Different kinds of feelings make us think and discuss things! Through this approach, I am able to create character, individuality, and quality within my work to make it different, catch people’s attention, and give a bit of inspiration back to my surroundings!
